FBA’s own LaLuce Mitchell was part of the team that presented “APT Buffalo Niagara 2018” to the Board of Directors of The Association for Preservation Technology International on October 10, 2013. Buffalo was selected to hold the 50th anniversary annual conference for the international organization that is dedicated to promoting the best technology for conserving historic structures and their settings. LaLuce Mitchell, LEED AP BD+C and Barbara A. Campagna, FAIA LEED AP BD+C worked hard to put together the presentation to convince the Board to bring the conference to our border city to bring APT members from over 30 different countries to our city.
Buffalo is home to major architectural works from each of America’s greatest architects from the end of the 19th century – Frank Lloyd Wright, H.H. Richardson, and Louis Sullivan. Each of their National Historic Landmark masterpieces has been fully restored or is currently undergoing a major restoration. Flynn Battaglia Architects has experience working with many of the city’s Landmark buildings.
LaLuce was an APT Student Scholar in 2010 and presented at the Annual Conference in Denver, CO, which is where he began his involvement with the organization. In addition, FBA employees Peter Flynn, Nancy Redeye, and Michael Lennon are also active members in APT. Michael Lennon spoke at both the APT Annual Conference in 2001 in Philadelphia, PA and in 2012 in Charleston, SC.
