A significant portion of our firm’s work involves historic sites, communities, and buildings. Flynn Battaglia Architects has completed restoration and rehabilitation projects on the majority of the ten National Historic Landmark properties in the Buffalo area. As the pre-eminent Buffalo area preservation architecture firm, Flynn Battaglia has won numerous national, state, and local awards for excellence in preservation. Through this work, the firm has established a standard of care for projects based on thoughtfulness and sensitivity in the application of historic planning and design standards. Original construction techniques and materials are carefully evaluated against current technology so as to maintain the integrity of a historic resource. Our staff has experience working within the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and with the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service. We help clients realize productive contemporary uses for their historic structures, often with the assistance of a variety of grants and tax incentives. In addition to architectural services specific to adaptive reuse and restoration, historic preservation services provided by FBA include: completion of Historic Resource Surveys, National Register Nominations, Existing Conditions Reports, Grants consulting, Feasibility Studies, Historic Tax Credit consulting, Historic Structures Reports, and urban planning in historic contexts.
